I've been asked how in the world we settled on Pahrump, Nevada as the place to live.
Pahrump was a total accident. We thought we'd head for Vegas where we would have entertainment, low housing prices, weather most of the year and easy air travel access to everywhere including within an hour or two by air of my mom in Phoenix and our kids in the NW.
We began looking for where to live online while still in Mexico. Looking at realty listings in Las Vegas, we noticed an occassional Pahrump property for sale at great prices. We began to investigate. 45-59K in population, enough services to not have to go to Vegas for any basics and it has it's own flair. Small town, with most homes on large acres of desert. Lot's of little Mom & Pop stores, restarurants, bars, etc., as well as big (although not Vegas big) casinos with live music. We became intrigued.
When we checked into the residential suite in Vegas, we immediately started looking at properties. We really liked Pahrump! Small town feel, very friendly people, enough to do, enough places to shop, nice looking. properties sitting in a beautiful desert valley. Only an hour away from Vegas. We were sold.
Next post will be about the house and property. We have lost (misplaced while living out of boxes, bags & suitcases in the suites) our interface cord from camera to PC. We will either will find it today, or go buy another. You know that will make the missing one show up!
